One disadvantage of tractor trailers is that they cannot drive though residential areas, especially those with tight streets. In certain cases, such as a car being too big to fit into a hotshot, tractor trailers can carry a single vehicle. Although more costly, an advantage of shipping your automobile this way is the additional security.

There are different schools of thought on whether it is better to store a vehicle on the upper or lower level of a tractor trailer. Cars situated on the lower level may be vulnerable to leakage of oil or fluid from cars loaded on the upper level. However, more exposure to outside surroundings and elements will be subjected to cars on the top decks.
